Six – Interactive Training Session

The management of stakeholders requested the GCNP-MACN to arrange training / interactive sessions to share their issues with the senior government officers and desired to seek the solution. To address these issues, six (6) training / interactive sessions were arranged by GCNP-MACN’s. These sessions were attended by the senior and middle management of shipping lines, terminal operators, stevedores, shipping agents, few freight forwarders and customs agents. These training / interactive sessions served as a platform for the maritime sector stakeholders to share their perspectives on the challenges they face and to get clarifications and government’s point of view on various topics. These discussions were an important step in creating a culture of integrity within Pakistan’s maritime industry, as they allowed participants to explore how they could work together to address systemic corruption issues.

By engaging key maritime industry players, raising awareness, and promoting dialogue, the initiative has laid the groundwork for future collective action in the region. The successful execution of these interactive sessions demonstrated the value of collaboration and proactive engagement in tackling complex issues such as corruption within global industries.

As a first step MACN identified key stakeholders, and conducted Training Need Assessment (TNA), particularly from shipping sector. The second step was organizing, facilitating and ensuring the logistical smoothness of each session. Given the busy nature of the maritime and logistics sectors, half-day sessions were arranged to avoid burdening participants. These sessions were held at Pakistan Customs Academy, Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KTGL) and office of the All-Pakistan Shipping Association.

The Q & A sessions helped in creating an environment where participants could freely share their concerns, problems, ask questions, and suggest solutions. This open dialogue was essential for building trust among stakeholders and ensuring that the sessions were productive and aligned with the objectives of GCNP-MACN.
